Zildjian K Fat Hats – Drummer’s Review

Here’s our latest review looking at a selection of Zlidjian K Fat Hats, featuring…

  • Available in two (odd) sizes: 14-1/8″, or 15-1/8″,
  • Blend of Zildjian A and K-style manufacturing techniques,
  • Perfect for players who mix and match hats,
  • Extensive Heavy Hammering,
  • Wide lathing,
  • Smaller top-bottom weight gap.

Zildjian Says…“The Fat Hats are the very definition of “labor of love”. A decade of testing has created this rich, blended “go-to” hi-hat sound that performs in the studio and turns heads on-stage.

The key is a combination of darker hammering with wider, A Zildjian-style lathing, and a smaller weight difference blurring true top and bottom. Designed to be a cymbal bag chameleon, these “part K, part A” hats sit within any cymbal setup, and are ripe for mixing and matching or simply playing them as is – a perfect blend of warm and bright. Play the 14-1/8″ for fantastic stick, or move up to the 15-1/8” for an incredibly lush sound and pronounced chick – Both unique sizes bring something special to any gig.”

Find out our thoughts in the video above!!

Roland and Melodics Announce New Partnership Through Series of Special Beat Maker Sample Packs

0
Roland, a leading manufacturer of electronic musical instruments and professional video products, and online music education tool Melodics, announce a new partnership, the Beat Maker Sample Pack x Melodics Series. This series features professionally crafted sample content from global artists, in addition to companion lessons, to help further the development of finger drumming skills on the SP-404MKII Creative Sampler and Effector, a top instrument for the craft. The first release within this series, Messy Samples by Lionclad, is live now.
Messy Samples by Lionclad features Seoul-based producer Lionclad, who brings her finger drumming expertise to this one-of-a-kind sample selection. Users can enjoy a library of pre-recorded lo-fi backbeats, chill hip-hop groovers, and off-kilter rhythms, or use the sample material to create new remixes and compositions. This sample pack is available as a project, ready to load in the SP-404MKII with samples and patterns arranged in eight banks of ready-to-play loops and one-shot samples.
The 128 DAW-ready WAV files can also be imported into users’ favorite music production software and hardware samplers, and files are clearly labeled with tempo and key information to help streamline workflow.
In addition to Messy Samples by Lionclad, there will be five future beat maker sample packs through this partnership, each of which will include Melodics lessons that work exclusively with the SP-404MKII. Melodics lessons give finger drummers direct feedback on their rhythm and timing through a desktop and iPad app that behaves like a mix between Duolingo and Guitar Hero.
Roland and Melodics began their partnership in 2018 with Melodics for V-Drums, a desktop app with an ever-expanding range of premium lesson content and integrated communication with Roland V-Drum sound modules. Melodics offers Roland drummers a unique visual approach to music education with finger drumming and electronic percussion courses based on modern music styles. The partnership expands through the launch of the Beat Maker Sample Pack x Melodics Series, with the goal of expanding users’ finger drumming capabilities on the SP-404MKII.

Availability
Messy Samples by Lionclad is available for free with a Roland account through Roland Cloud Manager. After downloading the pack, visit the SP-404MKII x Melodics page to access two free companion lessons specially created for this collection and the SP-404MKII hardware.
This and future releases within the Beat Maker Sample Pack x Melodics Series will be compatible with Roland hardware that supports sample imports, and will offer companion lessons through Melodics.

Good bye, Rainer, thank you!
“We are deeply saddened about the passing of our long-standing, highly esteemed former colleague Rainer Dreisbach on 22.04.2023.”
“In 1986 Rainer started his apprenticeship at SONOR, during his time in the work preparation department from 1989 and also as production manager from 2001 on he was significantly involved in many milestones in SONOR’s history, including the development of the Designer Series, the Giant Step Pedals or SQ² Drumsystem series.”
“Almost all factory visits during these years were conducted by Rainer, making him well known and highly appreciated by all SONOR friends around the world.”
“From 2015 on, Rainer then took over the commercial management and corporate communications, he documented a large part of our company history himself and was an accomplished advisor for all those interested in instruments and site history.”
“Unfortunately, Rainer had to leave SONOR already in January 2019 due to a sudden, severe illness.”
“Rainer, we thank you for all your dedication to SONOR and will cherish your memory”.

Drum Sheet Music Joins The UK Drum Show 2023

0

The UK Drum Show are thrilled to welcome another new company to its 2023 drum exhibition this September, welcoming www.drumsheetmusic.co.uk.

“A number of our guests have been in contact following our 2022 show asking if we are likely to have any sheet music exhibitors exhibiting this year, so we are naturally pleased to satisfy returning and new guests with this offering from Drum Sheet Music,” says show organiser Neil Golding.

Drum Sheet Music’s aim is to provide an unequalled catalogue of drum scores at low prices, hopefully making a real contribution to providing drummers of all capabilities with an easily available resource to play the music they like.

The Drum Sheet Music is Instantly available.

Simple to use site. Your Music charts will be available as PDF files immediately you have made your purchase.

How Easy/Hard is the Drum Part? *New Feature*

We have started the process of going through all our Music Scores and Grading them from Beginner to Expert Level. We are Grading them using The UK Examination system – Grade 1 to 8 (Grade 1 being Beginner pieces, Grade 8 being Expert pieces) We hope this will help you when deciding what Drum Sheet Music to Purchase with us. This process is obviously lengthy we have currently completed half of all the scores and we will keep adding to this on a daily basis.

New Scores Added Daily

We will be adding new charts every day so keep on coming back to see what’s new.

What If We Don’t Have The Score You Want?

We have a catalogue of over 18,000 scores available to us. Please contact us with details of what you wish and if available we will aim to provide it to you within 48 hours.

Drum Sheet Music vs Drum Tab

It’s no contest really. While drum tabs can be useful, they have a lot of limitations. Sheet Music is the language of musicians and conveys far more accuracy and detail than drum tab notations.

The Quality of the Drum Sheet Music

We provide at least 5 FREEBIES every month so you can just download these to see what the scores are like. We also provide a NO QUIBBLE MONEY BACK GARAUNTEE. All purchases are made through Paypal and so they are covered by their financial regulations.
