Avedis Zildjian Company recently introduced the new City Pack cymbal set at the 2018 Winter NAMM Show. This four cymbal set is designed to deliver the Zildjian sound for smaller-sized drum kits and percussion set-ups. The pack features cymbals from the A Zildjian Family including two new cymbals: the 18” A Zildjian Uptown Ride and 12” A Zildjian New Beat HiHats. The City Pack also includes a 14” A Zildjian Fast Crash. “With the growth of smaller kits for use in apartments, small clubs or intimate acoustic settings, we wanted to create a pack that meets these needs and provides a great alternative to over-sized cymbals,” said Victor Filonovich, Cymbal Category Manager for Zildjian.
Also new for 2018 is the K Zildjian Sweet Collection: “With the continued success of our A Sweet Rides, we wanted to create a new collection of extremely versatile cymbals within our K Family that are larger in size and thinner that delivers a darker and warmer tonality with more sound frequency,” says Filonovich.
The K Sweet Collection compromises nine models including 16” & 20” Crashes, two larger sized Rides (21” & 23”) and larger-sized HiHats (15” & 16”). The Crashes and HiHats feature unlathed bells for greater tonal spread and additional sound frequencies while the two K Sweet Rides are darker versions of the popular A Zildjian Sweet Rides.
A slight departure from cymbals will be the launch of new accessories for drummers. Included in the line-up are six new cymbal bags, two new drumstick bags, a premium rolling cymbal case and a variety of pre-packaged accessories including a ‘Survival Kit’ which contains the perfect assortment of emergency items every drummer needs at home or at the gig.
The new line of cymbal bags includes the ultimate road bag with the rugged 24” Premium Backpack Cymbal bag. This bag features five graduated cymbal dividers to keep cymbals safe and a new 16″ expandable HiHat pocket and clutch holder for increased cymbal capacity. For maximum durability, the bag includes military-grade hideaway backpack and shoulder straps and a cymbal protection system composed of rubber built into the inside and outer bottom.
Finally, Zildjian now have new and improved versions of its popular 5A and 5B drumsticks. Over 30 models have been re-designed from the ground-up to improve their style, durability and response, the company says. All new 5A and 5B models now feature a reduced tip size, increased neck size, longer tapers and an improved balance, response and durability.
