Music became the central focus of Steve Pruitt’s life at an early age. After beating on everything in sight, his Dad bought him his first drum-set. In 2000, Steve emerged as a finalist in the Guitar Center Drum Off. He attended the University of North Texas and studied under the tutelage of Ed Soph. Here, he began to play heavily in the Dallas/Fort Worth scene, and hit the road playing everything from Jazz, Rock, Hip-hop, Fusion, R&B, and Big Band.
Pruitt’s musical endeavors have led him to share the stage and studio with some of the finest artists in the world including: Cornell Dupree, Bobby Sparks, Snarky Puppy, Eddie Gomez, Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Haslip, Yotam Silberstein, Guthrie Govan, Champian Fulton, Mike Moreno, Bruce Forman, Champian Fulton, Bernard Wright, Mark Lettieri, Blue Lou Marini, Guthrie Govan, Youngjoo Song, Oz Noy and many others.
As an educator, Steve has presented many clinics at Universities around the globe. He was an artist-in-residence at Utah State University and a professor of jazz drumset at the University of North Texas.
