Vic Firth Launches The Nate Smith Signature Series Stick

The Avedis Zildjian Company, parent company of Vic Firth, is pleased to announce the release of the new Nate Smith Signature Series sticks.

For nearly two decades, Nate Smith has been impacting the music scene with his visceral, instinctive, and deep-rooted style of drumming. From jazz to fusion, R&B to hip-hop, from pop to rock and everywhere in between Nate Smith grooves like wind around the drum set. Now Nate brings that same energy and versatility to Vic Firth with his new Signature Series drumsticks.

Being slightly thinner than a 7A in the grip, with added length and a medium taper for a smooth response and impeccable balance, this stick is great for sitting right in the pocket. Crafted with made-in-the-USA hickory wood, the Nate Smith Signature Series sticks offer a strong tried and true composition. The rounded barrel tip allows for articulation at any angle and lets you pull serious sound out of your cymbals.

“We’re fortunate to have an incredible amount of talent in the Vic Firth family of artists, really the best in the world,” says Vic Firth Global Brand Manager Mike Weber. “We are so thrilled to welcome the immensely talented and always influential Nate Smith as the newest Vic Firth Signature Series artist. Nate is such a versatile and energetic player, and that versatility and effortless flow really comes to life in his new signature stick. Developing a new creative tool with an artist is always inspiring. Working with Nate was certainly no exception. We genuinely think drummers all over the world are going to love Nate’s signature stick design.”

The Nate Smith Signature Series sticks are available at vicfirth.com, authorized dealers, and international distributor partners.

Vic Firth Introduces Mike Johnston Custom Collaboration American Classic NE-1

0

The Avedis Zildjian Company, parent company of Vic Firth, is pleased to announce the release of the Mike Johnston Custom Collaboration American Classic NE-1 sticks.

Mike Johnston has shared his musical mind as a world-renowned online educator since 2014. In tune with the constant journey of the student drummer, Mike knew he needed to create a stick that could get out of your way and leave you with no excuses for progressing on your journey. That is why he partnered with Vic Firth to design a pair of sticks optimized with a longer taper for balance, a modified barrel tip for response, and a diameter between a 5A and 5B for comfort. The American classic NE-1 makes it easier.

Mike pored over every design choice possible to find a tip shape, taper, length, diameter, material, and overall performance that would combine to make the best possible stick for your growth. Crafted with made-in-the-USA hickory wood, the American Classic NE-1 offers a strong tried and true composition.

“If you know Mike Johnston, you know he is all about the little details,” says Vic Firth Global Brand Manager Mike Weber. “Of course, at Vic Firth we share that appreciation for detail, so when we got together to design a new stick with Mike it really took things to a whole new level. As an educator, Mike wanted to create a stick that could get out of your way and let you focus on developing your skill behind the kit, something that wasn’t going to hold you back in making progress on your drumming journey. As soon as you get a pair of NE-1’s in your hands, you’ll feel the difference immediately. Mike really dialed in all the specs to make this something that is uniquely Mike but truly designed for players everywhere. This really is something special.”

The Mike Johnston American Classic NE-1 sticks are available at vicfirth.com, authorized dealers, and international distributor partners.

New Practice Kit from Natal Drums Delivers Real Drums Without The Decibels

0

British drum brand Natal has released a new, low volume, practice kit; DNA Stealth. The brand is recognised by professional drummers and percussionists for delivering high quality equipment suitable for any style of music and this kit is no exception. Brandishing mesh heads and a smaller footprint, the kit is perfectly suited to quieter environments or when playing at home.

Designed in the UK, the DNA Stealth offers the advantages of a full acoustic drumkit without the noise by combining tuneable heads with the heavily reduced output of low volume cymbals and mesh skins. This kit seamlessly bridges the gap from playing an electronic kit to a full acoustic kit by delivering accurate response and feel without any disturbance. It is a complete setup that’s perfect for practise in bedrooms and homes around the world.

Boasting an 18” Bass Drum, 10” Tom, 14” Floor Tom, 13” Snare and integrated cymbal stand, the smaller footprint doesn’t compromise on quality or playability. The kit comes complete with hardware, throne, sticks and is quick and easy to set up to allow players to perform in tight spaces with minimal preparation.

Versatility is at the heart of the DNA Stealth; low volume cymbals can be replaced with regular ones and the mesh heads can be swapped for regular heads and adapted to feature triggers, so players can go from the bedroom to the live room with minor adjustments.

Craig Glover, Head of Natal products says “by combining the mesh heads and a smaller footprint we’ve created the perfect at home drum kit. Players can now play a real kit that offers great response and allows them to perfect their technique without compromising on style.”

The Natal DNA Stealth is available as a complete kit consisting of 6-ply basswood shells, pre-fitted mesh drumheads, hardware, silent cymbals and drum throne at a suggested selling price of just £399.

A separate snare pack is also available, featuring a snare with pre-fitted mesh drumheads, snare stand and drum sticks in a Natal kit bag.

More details are available at https://nataldrums.com/dnastealth

 Natal Drums:

Natal was officially founded in 1965 by British percussionist Alan Sharp and has been championed by the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. The use of fibreglass for greater sound projection and rounded hoops that were easier on the hands made Natal percussion instruments popular. Natal continued to flourish in the following decades, extending their product range to include the Fusion series in the early 90’s as well as cowbells, cajons and small percussion in the following years. In 2010, Natal moved into drum kits, attracting drummers like Jamie Morrison, Sian Monaghan, Michael Rennie, Steven G Legend and Oli Wiseman.

  • 20″ Ride,
  • 14″ Hi-Hats,
  • 16″ Crash,

  • Brushed Titanium finish.

Husht says…“Husht is a new brand of low-volume cymbals designed by drummers for drummers! The durable range of cymbals have the same feel and response as traditional cymbals, but with a significantly lower volume, hence the name (Husht LTV – Lowering The Volume). These cymbals are perfect for all drumming scenarios… Use them for practicing at home without irritating your neighbours, and protecting your ears at the same time. Use them in the studio, for a quieter recording. And they can be perfect live, especially for much quieter, acoustic gigs. The LTV’s have been praised for the way they carry the same sound characteristics as a regular cymbal, and even feel the same all-around, but sit at a perfectly reduced volume that enables you to play as normal, just without that booming cymbal volume! Husht LTV’s are an absolute must-have addition to any drummer’s arsenal, due to their full versatility. The cymbals are perfect for any situation, whether you want to practice with them on an acoustic kit, add them to an electronic kit for a more real-feel, play them live in a quiet acoustic set, record in-studio or even add them to your regular cymbals to experiment with cymbal stacks and effects and give your kit that added personality. No matter what you use them for, Husht cymbals are essential to add to your gear! ”
