First Handcrafted Two-Tone Body Snare set for debut.

The Kandu KTÄK ‘Body Snare’ is claimed to be the first-ever two-tone wearable snare, designed to meet the needs of professional percussionists and travellers. Its inventors say it’s: ‘meticulously crafted by musicians from hand selected Finnish birch ply…. And yes we know the name is super weird, but try saying it three times’.

‘At the heart of KTÄK is its mobility, its inventors say. ‘You can really take this thing anywhere and play at anytime. Percussion is not stationary.’

Our friends over at The UK Drum Show have just announced a brand-new feature for 2018, the Meinl Cymbals Clinic Room. In addition to their exhibition space, Meinl will have a series of clinics over the weekend with a number of respected artists.
Already confirmed for main stage appearance at The UK Drum Show is Benny Greb, Mike Johnston and Richard Spaven.

UK Drum Show Announce Third Main Stage Artist For 2018 Show…

Our friends over at The UK Drum Show have recently announced that Richard Spaven has been added to the line-up for the 2018 show. Joining drumming giants Benny Greb and Mike Johnston, Richard will be performing on the main stage (which only last month was graced by such drumming legends as Dennis Chambers, Thomas Lang, John ‘JR’ Robinson and Simon Phillips, to name but a few!) at 3.00pm on Saturday 29 September 2018 at Manchester Central Convention Centre.

Dream Cymbals Adds Four New Endorsers

Dream Cymbals distributor SVM Percussion has added four new endorsers to the company’s expanding artists roster.

Ian West is a much sought-after session drummer as well a highly-respected and influential drum tutor and drum clinician. He has performed with artists such as ABC, 5ive and Atomic Kitten, and has delivered drum clinics alongside Dom Famularo, Gregg Bissonette and Liberty DeVitto. One of Ian’s achievements is being awarded the BBC Kenny Clare prize for Best Jazz Drum Performance in the U.K.

West End drummer and percussionist James Gorman has played extensively in a wide range of musical settings; most notably percussion for the U.K. and European tours of ‘Evita’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and the U.K. tour of ‘The Sound of Music’, and he is currently touring with ‘Evita’ once more.

Sophie Galpin is part of all-girl Rock group PINS and has toured nationally and internationally, playing major festivals such as South by South West, Glastonbury, and main stage at Reading and Leeds.

Finally, Steve Roberts is the drummer for The Tangent and also played for award-winning Prog band Magenta. Steve has played many different styles, from theatre shows, Jazz and Rock to full blown Progressive epics.

OCDP Releases Limited Edition Steel Snare

Promising ‘the power and aggressive attack that only a metal snare can deliver,’ Orange County Drum & Percussion (OCDP) has newly launched a new, limited edition 14 x 8-inch steel snare drum.

With a bright chrome finish, the drum features OCDP’s signature high-quality USA shark-tooth lugs (set in-line), and features a smooth-feeling adjustable side throw-off. It also comes with a Remo UT-coated batter head.

“This is a beautiful instrument, musically and visually, with an 8-inch depth offering a powerful, low-end tone, and the polished chrome plating on the shell and hardware delivers an attention-grabbing look,” says OCDP Product Manager Gerry Helfrich. “This new Limited Edition Steel Snare will cut through the heaviest music-yet is still articulate, as well.
