Latin Percussion Launches Grammy Winner Tony Succar Signature Timbales

Latin Percussion (LP) is proud to announce the release of two-time Latin Grammy Award winner, Tony Succar’s, Signature Timbales.

The eye-catching LP drums are based on the ever-popular Tito Puente model, and feature a stunning combination of Rainbow Chrome over brass shells complemented with Black Nickel hardware and stealthy Black LP drum heads.  The all-new plating offers distinct color variations everytime,—making every set one-of-a-kind. The 14 & 15” x 6.5”timbales are mounted on a heavy duty, height adjustable stand with an anti-rattle sleeve and die-cast geared tilter. A sturdy cowbell bracket, timbale sticks and tuning wrench are also included.

Tony Succar, made history in 2019 when he became the youngest Latin Grammy award winner for Producer of the Year and Best Salsa Album and is a premier example of the next generation of Salsa and Latin Jazz musicians. He has worked with an impressive array of notable artists including Tito Nieves, India, Jon Secada, Marc Anthony, Sheila E., Arturo Sandoval, Judith Hill and Obie Bermudez, among others. His latest projects include producing and co-directing the PBS documentary “Roots of Latin Jazz”, premiering in July 2021. His latest single “Tu Mejor Equivocación,” is a collaboration with Tik Tok sensation YX.

Conn-Selmer Europe To Distribute Ludwig Drums

Conn-Selmer Europe are pleased to announce that from 1st October 2021, the company will offer direct distribution of Ludwig Drums and Musser Percussion in the UK.

The decision forms part of progressive and forward-thinking plans Conn-Selmer Europe has for the European market, focusing on all areas of the business with the first stage being Drums and Percussion in the UK. Supporting the sales and marketing of these legendary brands will be the main focus whilst dealers of Ludwig Drums and Musser Percussion will further benefit from vastly increased stockholding, greater access to the full product line-up and increased levels of pre and post service and support.

In the interim, and with immediate effect from 1st July, Ludwig Drums and Musser Percussion will be co-distributed by Conn-Selmer Europe and Active Music Distribution to facilitate a seamless transition for our customers.

Conn-Selmer’s European Vice President Charles Bozon states, “This change represents a new era for Conn-Selmer Europe and Ludwig Drums where our absolute priority is to offer unparalleled customer service and create a brighter future for our brands and dealer partners. Gravity presents the Traveler series – lightweight, compact, and practical stands, holders, and other aids for day-to-day music activities on the road. With this series, Gravity turns its attention to covering the basic needs of musicians and creatives who travel from gig to gig or job to job and only take along the bare necessities to save weight but still stay flexible.

Traveler Tiltable Tray

Gravity’s Traveler series is geared towards both musicians and content creators. The lightweight MS 5311 B microphone stand with convenient single-point boom adjustment forms the basis of the Traveler series. All other Traveler products can be attached to the microphone stand using a built-in clamp. The product offering includes the NS MS 02 sheet music holder with continuously adjustable steel tray (including the foldable NS MS 03 version), the extremely versatile MA TRAY 3 tray, which allows for the storage of everything from drum keys, guitar capos, smartphones, and tuners to compact pedals, as well as the MA DSB 01 drum stick holder, which offers quick and easy access to drumsticks whenever needed during a live performance.

Traveler 3D Arm

The Traveler series is rounded off by the MA 3D A 3D arm, which can be used to attach microphones, action cams and cellphone holders to the microphone stand, and to create flexible setups. Thanks to the large clamping range of 15-35mm and the ability of the three joints to rotate 360°, the MA 3D A can be used not only as a specialist helper on live stages but also in photo and video studios or podcast booths. Simply loosen the wing screws, adjust, tighten, and you’re done!

The Gravity Traveler series is now available and will be regularly expanded with new solutions in the future.

GEWA G5 – This is for Performers!

After the successful market launch of the GEWA Drum Workstation G9 in 2020, GEWA music presents a new kit in its Digital Drums range of products.

“This is for Performers“ says it all. The GEWA G5 targets the advanced drummer who wants to focus on his performance in a simplified way rather than the technical refinements of an digital drum kit like the GEWA Drum Workstation G9.

The GEWA G5 PRO BS5 will be available as a 5-piece kit in a stunning Black Sparkle finish. The shell sizes are: 10×5″, 12×5″, 14×5″ for the toms, 14×5″ snare drum and 18×14″ bass drum.

The GEWA G-Series cymbal set – MADE IN GERMANY – is also used in the G5 series. This includes 2x 14″ crashes, 1x 18″ ride, and 1x 14″ Hi-hat. All cymbals, even the Hi-hat, have three zones and can be choked at the edge.

On the hardware side, GEWA relies on a specially developed stand solution. This includes 3x tom/cymbal stands, Hi-hat, snare, and module stands. A matching bass drum pedal is available separately.

In the GEWA G5 module, the touchscreen has been replaced by hardware buttons and a modern OLED display. This makes operation particularly intuitive and all important functions are directly available. It is a simplified approached in comparison to the GEWA Drum Workstation G9 which is targeted to the professional drummers.

The technological base is the same as for of GEWA G9. This means that no compromises have been made in terms of sound and trigger behavior with the GEWA G5. The G5 uses the exact same sound library and is 100% compatible with the GEWA G9.

“The G5 module also offers many of the G9s’ great features such as the 3D Sonic Image room samples, USB audio recording, Bluetooth audio + MIDI, third-party pad compatibility, 4 effect channels and many other great features” states GEWA.

The GEWA G5 PRO BS5 will be available at the selected GEWA Digital Drums resellers in August. Pre-orders are accepted by July 9th, 2021.

ToneAlly Heads Into The Dragons’ Den 9pm Tonight BBC1

Tony McNally, founder of the ToneAlly, can be seen presenting his percussion vision tonight on BBC 1 at 9pm, when he joins fellow entrepreneurs with the return of hit series Dragons’ Den.

Tony is the founder of ToneAlly and an artist in his own right.  He was brought up into a musical family. He toured the UK performing the workingmens’ clubs from the tender age of 8, playing 2 or more gigs per week with his family show ‘Mike Mason & The Little People”. Way before ‘X Factor and BGT’ were conceived, he fronted the band singing ‘Nobody’s Child’ on TV’s ‘Opportunity Knocks’, winning by audience ‘Clapometer’ and releasing his first record at the age of 12. In recognition of his skills as a drum soloist, he won a National Award as ‘Best Undiscovered British Drummer’ 1990-92. Tony’s theatre credits include his work as a member of percussion artists ‘Stomp’, ‘Live Theatre’ and ‘Northern Stage’. He has grown to be a truly international artist; from being the opening act for ‘Buddy Guy’ in Cologne and headlining at the Markthalle/Hamburg as a member of ‘The Whisky Priests’, to his popular one man shows in Europe.

As a composer,his credits include the soundtrack for the TV documentary ‘The World & Manchester United’ (SKY). His track ‘High Level Waltz’ (The River) was used as the title track for a TV Arts programme, and his song ‘My Angel of The North’ is highly regarded as an anthem  for the North East of England.

Tony  is amongst  the small percentage of educationalists in the UK who has achieved ‘Advanced Skills Teacher’ status in music. He continues to be much in demand as a session musician and with his online teaching.  Tony is currently working on his 4th album due for commercial release later 2021 (date tba)
